A Collaboration with Julie Qiu.

Julie is an international oyster expert and founder of the seminal In a Half Shell oyster blog, based in New York City. Her passion for oyster appreciation and sustainable seafood are contagious, and when she reached out with the idea for an oyster journal, I jumped at the chance. Her passion has inspired her to create other unique oyster experiences including the New York Oyster Crawl, Oyster Omakase Pop Up Tasting Club, and she is co-author of the New York Oyster Map. Her blog has been recognized as one of SAVEUR’s "Sites We Love." I couldn't agree more.

This oyster journal is designed for ease of use. It’s tough to hold a notepad in one hand, a pencil in the other, and have another hand left for your freshly-shucked C. virginica. Taking notes with 33 Oysters is as simple as checking a few boxes and entering a few basic facts. Use the ruler along the top of the journal to measure your oysters!

The flavor wheel in 33 Oysters can be used to quickly recall an oyster’s unique flavor long after consumption. For low values of the flavor, fill in dots near the wheel’s center.

Secret Ingredient

A teeny, tiny amount of oyster liquor is added to the ink in each new edition, which is cryptically noted on the back.

Eco-Friendly

33 Oysters is made with 100% recycled papers sourced in the Pacific Northwest. Interior pages are 100% post-consumer recycled content and covers are 85% post-consumer recycled content and 15% recycled content. The booklets are printed using US-grown soy-based inks in sunny Portland, Oregon.
