Small Alainthus Cutting Board (LTD Edition) by Commoner Goods
A versatile, face-grain cutting board equally suited to cutting or serving.
Ailanthus is a prolific grower that will take root almost anywhere, propagating quickly. As an invasive species it’s considered a nuisance, often chopped down and relegate to the fire pit. It makes a beautiful, lightweight but hard lumber, however, and we’re more than happy to turn this nuisance into a cared-after object! The batch for this edition comes from logs salvaged from a trio of felled trees just off Division Street here in SE Portland. These logs were sawn, dried, then turned into this batch of book-matched cutting boards.
