Junior's Roasted Coffee

Junior’s Roasted Coffee is a micro-roastery based out of Portland, Oregon, and was founded by Caryn and Mike Nelson. The Nelsons started roasting as Junior’s while living in Tallahassee, Florida during graduate school in October 2014. “Junior” is the name of their 1.5 kilo roaster, which is considered an offspring of the Nelson family.
They wished to combine Mike’s background in academia and coffee with Caryn’s background in community service and hospitality in a project that would serve a community and create relationships around quality coffee. After graduate school they relocated to their previous home of Portland, Oregon to join forces with business partners Carrie Lind and Toby Roberts. Together they opened Guilder, a cafe that also serves as the Junior’s Roasted Coffee roastery.
To them, quality coffee means more than just excellent taste; quality is about sound environmental, economic, and social conditions at the farm level and how we transparently share that story with the consumer. It’s about roasting coffee to best suit its terroir, and brewing it to best represent all of the hard work and dedication that poured into that product.
